T20 World Cup 2014 Schedule, Fixtures & Results
Tuesday 18 March 2014
Rarely does it happen but within a month the cricket world will
witness a face-off between India and Pakistan for the second time, and though
the venue will be the same, stakes will be a lot higher at the ICC World
Twenty20 2014 encounter.
Bangladesh will host the fifth edition of the World T20, which
this time will see participation from 16 teams instead of 12. But all eyes will
be on March 21 when India and Pakistan open their campaign and the tournament's
Super 10 stage in what is expected to be a high-octane clash with a bit of
recent history attached.
World Twenty20 2014: The two teams played each other at the Asia Cup on March 2, where Pakistan inflicted an agonizing one-wicket defeat on India in a last-over finish. Shahid Afridi's 18-ball 34* included two consecutive sixes in the last over of the match bowled by Ashwin, which settled the issue in Pakistan's favour. And India will want to take revenge when the teams meet at the same venue - the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

Live Cricket Score: India (IND) vs (PAK) Pakistan, World T20
India VS Pakistan
DHAKA: While India will be taking on Sri Lanka in their first practice
match at the Sher-E-Bangla National
Stadium in Mirpur on Monday, their
arch-rivals Pakistan are scheduled to face New Zealand a bit earlier in the day
at the same venue. However, there were hardly any questions asked about those
games when players of both teams faced the media on Saturday.
All the queries were about the opening encounter of the Super 10 stage. The
Friday Blockbuster — India vs Pakistan.
Pakistan have won just one of their five T20 clashes against India and they
have never beaten India in eight clashes in the World Cup (5 in ODIS and 3 in
T20s). India will be looking to maintain that record while Pakistan, arguably a
better T20 side, will be looking to break that jinx. "We never look at
that record and neither do we look at that game as a big one. It is just hyped
up by all the people around it," feels India's star batsman Virat Kohli.
Tell him about India's spotless record against Pakistan and he says, 'We will
not go out there to keep that record intact. We will go and play good cricket
and try not to get too desperate.'
